baby kruise

Not long after moving to San Diego, I was introduced to a newlywed couple who had just driven across the country from New York to start a church. Everything they owned packed in their little Jetta to start a new life...and help build other lives through loving God and serving their community. My life has not been the same since Existence Church began and I've been blessed to have friends like Josh & Kim. Almost seven years later, they've added a new addition to their family...Kruise Wayne Hotsenpiller was born on December 27th! Here are a few photos from our newborn session...

We started off in the nursery...

Very proud parents...

And a very alert Kruise!

Then we decided to take a few pics with Josh's other pride and joy...his motorcycle :)

Kruise fit perfectly inside the helmet :)

Josh & Kim - thank you for everything you've done for me and your church family. Kruise is so blessed to have wonderful parents like you! xoxo

jason, coby, gracie belle & ella marie

I owe all of my good hair days to Coby. She's been my hair stylist ever since I moved to San Diego and I wish she would come over every morning so I could have that fresh-out-of the-salon look. Seriously. I've asked her. Well these days, her schedule is a bit busy with one little girl running around...and it's about to get even busier. Coby just had her second little one, Ella Marie, on January 21st. But a few weeks before that, I hung out with the three of them for Coby's maternity photos.

Gracie Belle is the cutest!

Coby is beautiful!

Two loves...

Congratulations Coby and Jason!! I can't wait to meet Ella!

xoxo

jer & mandi {san diego, california}

It took me awhile to get to this blog post because I wanted it to be perfect. Okay, it may not be perfect, but I wanted to take my time and make sure I described it exactly how I experienced it. Several months ago I started to brainstorm about a photo session...something out of my normal routine and different than anything else I've done so far. Hopefully, a starting point for things to come! After shooting a wedding at The Omni Hotel in October, I knew the perfect setting for this shoot would be downtown San Diego...an urban setting with a ton of fresh backgrounds, colors and style...and a place that I rarely get to shoot.

Next up, I needed a couple to be our models. This was difficult not because I couldn't find an attractive couple to work with (they are everywhere in SD!)...but I wanted a couple that has great style, are totally in love and would rock it out! I didn't need to go far to find the perfect couple...Mandi & Jer. I've known Mandi & Jer since they moved to SD with a group of friends who started our church more than six years ago. Mandi has been a great friend who I've gotten to know more through our bible studies, girls nights and countless women's ministry meetings! :) These two have been married for eight years and to me, are a true example of love, friendship, companionship and FUN. They didn't have the money to spend on a professional photographer for their wedding and had a friend take their pictures...so after all this time, I knew they would be the perfect fit for this session.

Enough of my rambling for now...on to the important stuff...the photos! Forgive me, I couldn't narrow them down...so sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Mandi - you're gorgeous!

They are just too cute...LOVE.

Rawwr...

Work it, Jer.  Work. it.

Seriously, they should be models.

Random Vespa to conclude our session??!  Yes please!!

H.O.T.

Mandi & Jer - thank you so much for an amazing day! We all had so much fun and would have taken pictures of you for hours if the gloomy weather hadn't darkened our day. :) Love you!

Also, the day wouldn't have been complete without another amazing photographer, Evan Yamada. Thank you for collaborating with me on this shoot and sharing your creative ideas...the day couldn't have been better!

And last, but certainly not least...we couldn't have survived the afternoon without our amazing assistant, Emily!  Emily, you were such a trooper and thank you so much for spending your afternoon with us!  You are awesome!

evan, alex & lola {oceanside, california}

A few days before Christmas, I met up with Evan, Alex and their 'fur baby', Lola, at the Oceanside Pier. Who'd have thought we would have 80+ degree weather at 10 o'clock in the morning...in December!?! It was a little warm, but we had a great time anyway...enjoy!

Introducing...LOLA!

A little fun...

A little romance...

And the cutest puppy ever...

holiday family session {del mar, california}

Del Mar was a hot spot for holiday sessions in 2009...but this one was a little different. When Robyn first contacted me about our session, she suggested downtown Del Mar and I was so excited! So much charm and character in just a few short blocks. I could tell Blake remembered me from our session last year and he is still as cute as ever...and such a ham!!

This shot was Blake's idea...he didn't want to sit next to mom or dad, or on a lap...he wanted to be right in the middle of the action. HI! :)

And we even ran into Santa Claus!  How cool is that??

Robyn, Andrew & Blake - thank you so much for such a fun session! Can't wait til next year!  xoxo
