jer & mandi {san diego, california}

It took me awhile to get to this blog post because I wanted it to be perfect. Okay, it may not be perfect, but I wanted to take my time and make sure I described it exactly how I experienced it. Several months ago I started to brainstorm about a photo session...something out of my normal routine and different than anything else I've done so far. Hopefully, a starting point for things to come! After shooting a wedding at The Omni Hotel in October, I knew the perfect setting for this shoot would be downtown San Diego...an urban setting with a ton of fresh backgrounds, colors and style...and a place that I rarely get to shoot.

Next up, I needed a couple to be our models. This was difficult not because I couldn't find an attractive couple to work with (they are everywhere in SD!)...but I wanted a couple that has great style, are totally in love and would rock it out! I didn't need to go far to find the perfect couple...Mandi & Jer. I've known Mandi & Jer since they moved to SD with a group of friends who started our church more than six years ago. Mandi has been a great friend who I've gotten to know more through our bible studies, girls nights and countless women's ministry meetings! :) These two have been married for eight years and to me, are a true example of love, friendship, companionship and FUN. They didn't have the money to spend on a professional photographer for their wedding and had a friend take their pictures...so after all this time, I knew they would be the perfect fit for this session.

Enough of my rambling for now...on to the important stuff...the photos! Forgive me, I couldn't narrow them down...so sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Mandi - you're gorgeous!

They are just too cute...LOVE.

Rawwr...

Work it, Jer.  Work. it.

Seriously, they should be models.

Random Vespa to conclude our session??!  Yes please!!

H.O.T.

Mandi & Jer - thank you so much for an amazing day! We all had so much fun and would have taken pictures of you for hours if the gloomy weather hadn't darkened our day. :) Love you!

Also, the day wouldn't have been complete without another amazing photographer, Evan Yamada. Thank you for collaborating with me on this shoot and sharing your creative ideas...the day couldn't have been better!

And last, but certainly not least...we couldn't have survived the afternoon without our amazing assistant, Emily!  Emily, you were such a trooper and thank you so much for spending your afternoon with us!  You are awesome!

evan, alex & lola {oceanside, california}

A few days before Christmas, I met up with Evan, Alex and their 'fur baby', Lola, at the Oceanside Pier. Who'd have thought we would have 80+ degree weather at 10 o'clock in the morning...in December!?! It was a little warm, but we had a great time anyway...enjoy!

Introducing...LOLA!

A little fun...

A little romance...

And the cutest puppy ever...

happy new year!

2010 has only been around for a few days, but I'm already loving it. I have a lot of new, exciting things going on with Megan Ann Photography that I want to share with you! I'll save a few surprises for the next few weeks, but the first is that I've officially booked a wedding in SPAIN!  I'll be traveling over there in April and I am SO incredibly excited. For now, I'll leave you with a little sneak peek of a rad session I shot downtown San Diego with my good friend and fellow photog, Evan Yamada. Mandi and Jer were our fabulous models and they totally rocked it!

sabrina + shane = married {breakers beach, coronado island}

Sabrina & Shane were married on a beautiful Fall afternoon on Coronado Island. Surrounded by family and friends, it was pretty much a perfect day. They opted not to see each other before the ceremony, but we had some amazing light along the beach before the reception for some beautiful portraits. Sabrina and Shane have been together for a long time and I could tell they were so excited to finally be husband and wife. Their love for each other was obvious, comforting and pure.

A little side note...during their slideshow at the reception I found out that Sabrina and I have the same birthday, Oct. 26th! How fun is that? :) Many thanks to Erin from Behind The Bride who kept the day running smoothly and always had a smile on her face! And be sure to check out the awesome wedding video teaser from 4120 Weddings. Matt, Matt & Steve are fairly new to wedding videography, but they are extremely talented and are so fun to be around.

One of my most favorite ring shots. Ever.

Sabrina & Shane - Thank you both for allowing me to share in the festivities of your wedding day...it has been great getting to know you in the last few months and I wish you many blessings in the future!  xoxo, Megan
